Its budget time at the Town Council with the budget discussed first at the Finance & Resources meeting on Monday 2nd December at 7.30pm, then at Full Council on Monday 13th January 2014 at 7.15pm. If anyone has any views on how the budget should be spent, then please come along and have your say please. Don’t forget you can come to any Town Council meeting and have three minutes to address the council on any issue.
At the Full Council Meeting of Kesgrave Town Council on 11th November, it was revealed that our two County Councillors, Messer’s Hudson & Whitting have already spent the next two years highways locality budget (£32.000) on footway improvements in Rushmere St Andrew. These two County Councillors were elected to represent all the County Council Division not just one half of it, so why is no money being spent by them in the next two years in the Kesgrave part of the County Division. Does this mean our County Councillors are not worried about the state of footways in Kesgrave? Please let us know area’s in Kesgrave that need repairs.
Do you think that Kesgrave Market is value for money?
At present only around 2% of the population are using the market, which in the 2012 – 2013 budget Kesgrave Town Council have set aside £4000 for this venture, or could this money be best spent on something else.
We would like to know your views on this whatever they may be.
We are not against Kesgrave having a market we just believe it should be self-supporting.
From next September every child in infant school in England will get free school meals, saving families around £437 a year.
This is one of the most important changes in our education system for a generation. A hot, healthy meal at lunchtime for all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will raise school standards and cut the attainment gap.
It would also never have happened without the Liberal Democrats in Government, fighting to cut the cost of living for millions of parents who are feeling the squeeze.
If you support this change, please share this on Facebook.
Scotland and Wales will get the extra funding to do this too and Liberal Democrats hope the SNP and Labour will follow our lead.
The total number of District Councillors on Suffolk Coastal District Council is to be reduced from 55 to 43 following a six-week public consultation by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE).
The next stage of the review is to look into individual ward boundaries and this consultation runs until 1st October 2013.
At present Kesgrave ratio of electorate to councillor is 40% above the district average. Derrick and Stephanie are currently working with the Liberal Democrat group on Suffolk Coastal looking into the best way forward. The ideal number of electorate per councillor being looked for is 2419 but this can be plus or minus 10% (2178 – 2662.). Electorate numbers as by the electors register are in Kesgrave West 3043 and in Kesgrave East 7326.
If you have views on how the changes could be made then simply go to
or just contact us, but you have only got to October 1ST to register your opinion.
The final recommendations made by the Boundaries Commission will be published on 21st July 2014 and come into affect at the Suffolk Coastal District Elections in 2015

This is the comment Derrick ( Dee ) put on the E.A.D.T poll regarding this story
This is just another example of the Conservative administration doing as they please, without consulting with the other political parties let alone with the long suffering electorate of Suffolk who are suffering cuts to services they have made. The other week we heard of a big under spend now this, when will they wake up. Their should not be any under spend, just fewer cuts to services . No body objects to staff getting bonuses, but in the present climate they are just not on.
